The Bible
We believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God. It was written by human authors who were moved by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we believe it is without error and is our ultimate authority for what we believe and how we should live (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21, Psalm 12:6, 119:105).
God
We believe in one God as the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. He has eternally existed in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The three are coequal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1; John 10:30; John 4:24).
Jesus
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, one with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. He is our Savior, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for all sin, and rose from the grave after three days to demonstrate victory over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will one day return to earth to reign as King (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35; John 10:33; 11:25; Acts 1:11; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14; Hebrews 2:17; 4:7-25; 9:11-15; 12:24 Revelation 19:11-16).
Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts when they accept Jesus as Savior. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily. (John 16:8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 4:11).
Humanity
We believe that men and women are the supreme object of God’s creation, created in his image. Although every human has potential for good, through Adam and Eve’s choice, we inherited an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This separates us from God and causes brokenness in our life. (Gen. 1:26-27; Psalm 14:2-3, Isaiah 53:6, 59:2, Romans 3:10,23, 6:23).
Salvation
We believe that salvation is God’s offer to forgive sin and restore our relationship with Him. This is not something that can be purchased or earned, but is a free gift from God provided by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. This gift must be accepted through repentance of sin and faith in Jesus, and is expressed publicly through baptism by immersion (John 10:28-29; Acts 13:38-39; Romans 3:19-20).
Eternity
We believe that people were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence and divine rewards or judgment (Job 1:6-7; Matthew 25:46; John 5:28-29; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:14-15).
Christian Living
We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ. As we grow more like Christ and carry out the works that He has prepared for us, we make the Gospel that much more attractive to the world (Matthew 5:16; Ephesians 2:10; Titus 2:7-8; 1 Peter 2:11-12).
The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The local church is a congregation of baptized believers who gather together for prayer, teaching, worship, community and outreach. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and making Him known to the world (Matthew 18:15-17; 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42,47; 4:32-37; 10:9-23; Galatians 3:28; 6:1-5).
